Thermochemical Modeling of Metal Composition and Its Impact on the Molten Corium–Concrete Interaction: New Insights with Sensitivity Analysis

The characterization of molten corium–concrete interaction (MCCI) has increasingly become a cause concern because, in the case severe nuclear accident, core could meltdown and release radiation into environment. objective this study was to determine thermochemical impact metal content corium analyze effect on ablation depth, temperature, its viscosity surface heat flux, production hydrogen, carbon monoxide, dioxide. governing transfer equations were solved while considering various reactions existing numerical code comprehensive way. developed MCCI model CORQUENCH validated against data available literature. Our findings showed that composition corium, especially content, noticeable mitigating or aggravating depth reactor integrity. We observed during interaction, zirconium plays significant role presence can increase exponentially from 18.5 139 cm investigated study. It found instigated continuously, thus injected water, instead quenching enhances temperature by facilitating exothermic reactions. Additionally, due zirconium, hydrogen monoxide increases 45 52 times, respectively generation dioxide becomes zero because reacts with converting it monoxide.
